The Clash - Combat Rock: Indecision Me Molesta
Goddamn, I can’t find the text for this review. It was my very first review and set the stage for the rest of my “Highbrow Pundit” reviews. The concept was pretty fun, and I think I pulled it off alright.
Basically, my goal was to review a “classic” album that I had never heard before. What classic meant was up to the audience, whether that meant an overlooked gem, an all-time banger, or just a best-seller that slipped through my fingers. There’s a whole lot that I’ve missed, and I thought it would be cool to look back at some of these things.
The second gimmick of the reviews was that the albums were suggested by my “audience,” which mostly consisted of my Facebook friends. I thought that it was a cool idea that would allow interaction and make the reader feel like a part of the production. I assume this would have worked better if the publication had stayed up, but the experiment was ended after three columns. I might get back to this at some point if there’s any interest or if I just get the bug to do it.
If you’re curious, I thought that the album was kind of middling. There were highs and lows, and I thought it was cool listening to the song that Paper Planes samples. I guess I’m just not the biggest Clash fan.
